Whether you’re planning a Vietnam holiday with kids or searching for the ultimate family-friendly Vietnam itinerary, this journey ticks every box.

Begin in Hanoi – A City of Culture and Contrasts

The journey begins in Vietnam’s bustling capital, Hanoi, a city where ancient traditions meet modern life. Families will delve into Vietnamese heritage with a visit to the Vietnam Women’s Museum, an insightful and moving tribute to the role of women in the country’s history, culture and wartime resilience. The tour also includes a stop at the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first national university, where children can learn about Confucian values and Vietnam’s deep-rooted respect for education – a true cultural gem on any Vietnam itinerary with kids.

An unforgettable “Street Life” experience introduces the family to Hanoi’s lively street food culture. Wander through the narrow alleyways, interact with local vendors, and sample delicious specialities such as bánh mì and phở. A traditional cyclo ride through the atmospheric Old Quarter offers young travellers a fun and novel way to soak in the sights and sounds of the city – a must-do on any kid-friendly Vietnam holiday.

Explore the Wild at Cuc Phuong National Park

Leaving the city behind, the adventure continues in Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam’s oldest and most biologically diverse nature reserve – a fantastic destination for nature-focused family travel in Vietnam. Families will enjoy gentle hikes through ancient rainforest trails, encounter exotic flora and fauna, and visit two important conservation centres – the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre and the Turtle Conservation Centre. These stops are not only fascinating but also educational, offering a deeper understanding of wildlife protection in Vietnam, ideal for inquisitive young minds.

Slow Travel in Scenic Ninh Binh

Next, the journey takes you to the peaceful countryside of Ninh Binh, often referred to as the “Inland Ha Long Bay” due to its dramatic limestone karst landscapes. This region is one of the best places in Vietnam for families, combining natural beauty with rural charm.

Here, families can drift along the river through the Tam Coc caves in small rowing boats, surrounded by rice paddies and towering cliffs. Enjoy a leisurely bike ride through grapefruit orchards and rural villages, offering a rare glimpse into traditional Vietnamese life. Later, a serene sampan ride through the Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve allows for peaceful birdwatching and quiet connection with nature – an ideal break from the busyness of modern life and a highlight for eco-conscious families.

Bai Tu Long Bay – The Quiet Gem of the North

Unlike its more famous neighbour, Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay remains largely untouched by mass tourism, making it a superb choice for a family-friendly cruise in Vietnam. Families can enjoy a peaceful beach day, swimming, kayaking, or simply relaxing in a tranquil setting. The experience is elevated by a luxurious cruise aboard the Dragon Legend boat, designed with comfort and child-friendly amenities in mind – a truly exceptional experience during your Vietnam family holiday.

Historic Treasures in Hue

The cultural journey continues south to the imperial city of Hue, once the capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen Dynasty. Here, the whole family can explore majestic Royal Tombs, the ancient citadel, and the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, perched serenely by the Perfume River. A relaxing boat ride along the river offers scenic views and a moment of calm reflection – an experience not to be missed on your Vietnam family adventure.

In Thuy Bieu Village, families will cycle through fragrant fruit gardens, try their hand at traditional handicrafts, and take part in a Vietnamese cooking class for families, creating memorable moments through food and culture.

Beach Bliss in Danang

The tour concludes in the vibrant coastal city of Danang, one of the most relaxing and enjoyable destinations for a beach holiday in Vietnam for families. Here, travellers are free to choose their own accommodation and tailor their activities. Whether it’s building sandcastles on the beach, enjoying fresh seafood, or venturing out to explore nearby attractions like the Marble Mountains or Ba Na Hills, Danang offers a perfect mix of relaxation and kid-friendly adventure.
