About This Tour

Ride Vietnam’s back roads on a fourteen-day private cycling journey from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, combining local heritage with scenic coastal roads. Begin in Hanoi before an overnight Orchid Trendy or equivalent cruise through Ha Long and Lan Ha Bay. Continue by a confirmed domestic flight to Hue, then cycle selected routes through riverside villages, over or around Hai Van Pass, and towards Hoi An’s countryside and My Son Sanctuary.

Travel south with an English-speaking cycling guide and support vehicle. Ride chosen sections near Quang Ngai, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang and Mui Ne while using road transfers for longer or busier stretches. This proposed itinerary contains seven riding days totalling approximately 335 kilometres; individual distances are planning estimates, not surveyed GPS figures. The Hai Van climb is optional and may be replaced by a vehicle transfer. Two leisure nights in Mui Ne give time to recover before the final journey to Ho Chi Minh City.

Haivenu will tailor bike sizing, route difficulty, vehicle support, accommodation and meal arrangements to the group. Coastal weather, road access, airline schedules and cruise operations can alter the programme. A detailed route, daily cycling distances and written inclusions will be confirmed before booking.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

A flexible outline of your private Vietnam journey.

Day 1Arrive Hanoi – Private Welcome and Cycling Briefing

Meet the pre-booked driver at Noi Bai International Airport and transfer privately to the agreed Hanoi hotel. Check-in depends on your international flight and the hotel's room policy. If time allows, take a gentle walk in the Old Quarter or enjoy a reserved local dinner. Meet the cycling coordinator or receive a detailed briefing on the planned seven supported riding days, preferred bike sizing, helmets, weather, luggage, route difficulty and the optional Hai Van Pass climb. No urban cycling is required after an international arrival. Spend the evening at leisure before the early departure to the bay.

Overnight: Hanoi hotel – night 1 of 13

Meals: Arrival dinner only if included in the accepted quotation

Places: Noi Bai International Airport → Hanoi

Terrain: Arrival transfer; no cycling

Day 2Hanoi to Lan Ha Bay – Overnight Orchid Trendy Cruise

Transfer by private road vehicle from Hanoi to Tuan Chau Marina for boarding the confirmed Orchid Trendy or equivalent licensed Ha Long and Lan Ha Bay cruise. After the operator's safety briefing, enjoy lunch and the first afternoon's activities. The current Orchid programme includes a kayak outing around Ao Ech and an overnight anchorage near Tra Bau when maritime conditions permit. A cooking demonstration, cruise dinner and optional squid fishing are subject to the ship's actual programme. The selected cabin is private to the booked travellers; the ship is not exclusively chartered. There is no cycling today.

Overnight: Licensed Lan Ha Bay cruise cabin – night 2 of 13

Meals: Hanoi breakfast; cruise lunch and dinner according to the booked package

Places: Hanoi → Lan Ha Bay cruise anchorage

Terrain: Road transfer and licensed cruise

Day 3Trung Trang Cave – Return to Hanoi and Fly to Hue

Follow the cruise's scheduled morning programme, which currently proposes a guided Trung Trang Cave visit on Cat Ba Island when open and safe, then breakfast or brunch and disembarkation at Tuan Chau. Travel by private vehicle towards Noi Bai Airport for a confirmed late afternoon or evening flight to Hue. This cruise-to-flight connection is only offered if the airline timing, pier exit and road transfer allow a reasonable delay buffer; otherwise Haivenu must revise the plan or add an agreed night before booking. Meet the driver at Phu Bai Airport for transfer to the Hue hotel. No riding today.

Overnight: Hue hotel – night 3 of 13

Meals: Cruise breakfast or brunch; any later meal as quoted

Places: Lan Ha Bay cruise anchorage → Hue via Tuan Chau, Hanoi and Phu Bai Airport

Terrain: Cruise disembarkation, road transfer and domestic flight

Day 4Hue Cultural Cycling – Citadel, Kim Long and Thien Mu Area

Meet the cycling guide for a fitted touring bike, helmet check, brake check and riding-safety briefing. Follow a proposed approximately 35-kilometre supported route on suitable streets and quiet riverside sections near the Hue Citadel, Kim Long and Phu Mong traditional houses, with a pre-booked local stop where available. Explore ticketed heritage attractions on foot when cycling is restricted rather than promising to ride through protected monuments. Visit the Thien Mu Pagoda area if timing and access permit, then return to the Hue hotel. Support transport can shorten the route. Actual daily kilometres and road suitability are confirmed through a route sheet before departure.

Overnight: Hue hotel – night 4 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast and a booked cycling-day lunch; dinner as quoted

Places: Hue hotel → Hue hotel

Distance (km): 35

Terrain: Mostly paved urban and village roads; moderate riding

Travel hours: 4

Day 5Hue to Hoi An – Coastal Cycling and Optional Hai Van Pass

Depart Hue by vehicle or bicycle for a proposed approximately 60-kilometre supported riding day on approved coastal roads, with breaks towards Lang Co and a suitable lunch stop. The Hai Van Pass ascent is a demanding climb; only riders who have agreed to the route and passed the guide's fitness and weather check should attempt it. Other guests travel over the pass in the support vehicle, and no cyclist uses a road or tunnel where bicycles are restricted. Finish with a road transfer for remaining distance to Hoi An, rather than implying all transfers are cycled. Check in and enjoy the evening in the Ancient Town.

Overnight: Hoi An hotel – night 5 of 13

Meals: Hue breakfast and planned lunch; dinner as quoted

Places: Hue hotel → Hoi An via Lang Co, Hai Van Pass and Da Nang

Distance (km): 60

Terrain: Paved coastal sections and optional steep Hai Van ascent; support transfer

Travel hours: 5

Day 6Hoi An Countryside Cycling – My Son Sanctuary

Start with a proposed approximately 40-kilometre morning ride along agreed quieter roads through rice fields and Thu Bon River villages outside Hoi An, with a guide and support vehicle. Road or permitted ferry crossings are chosen against real conditions, and any river transport is operated by licensed providers. Transfer by vehicle as needed to visit My Son Sanctuary on foot, allowing for heat, walking paths and site opening hours. The route is a countryside ride plus an approved heritage visit, not a promise to cycle the full distance in both directions or ride through the protected ruins. Return to the Hoi An hotel.

Overnight: Hoi An hotel – night 6 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast and booked riding-day lunch; evening meal as quoted

Places: Hoi An hotel → Hoi An via rural villages and My Son area

Distance (km): 40

Terrain: Paved rural roads and walking in a protected heritage site

Travel hours: 4

Day 7Hoi An – Recovery and Optional Local Experience

Enjoy a flexible rest day in Hoi An after the first three cycling days. Spend time in the Ancient Town, relax at a suitable beach, visit a participating craft workshop or arrange a short optional cycling loop only if separately agreed. A cooking class or guided food experience can be booked for those interested, but neither is an automatic inclusion. The cycling guide can inspect bicycles and review the planned Quang Ngai, Quy Nhon and coastal riding segments while the group rests. Overnight at the same Hoi An hotel. Today's scheduled cycling distance is zero and optional rides are not counted in the package's indicative total.

Overnight: Hoi An hotel – night 7 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast and optional local meals under the confirmed plan

Places: Hoi An → Hoi An

Terrain: Leisure and optional short rides

Day 8Hoi An to Quang Ngai – Rural Back Roads and My Lai Memorial

Leave Hoi An by private support vehicle for a safer starting point south of the busier urban corridors. Cycle a planned approximately 50 kilometres on guide-checked rural or coastal roads, with planned rest, hydration and lunch stops. Continue by vehicle over longer or unsuitable sections to the Quang Ngai area. Visit the Son My (My Lai) Memorial, subject to official opening hours, with a respectful interpretation of the 1968 tragedy and no staged or intrusive experiences. The cycling segment is not advertised as the full distance between Hoi An and Quang Ngai. Check into the pre-booked hotel for the night.

Overnight: Quang Ngai hotel – night 8 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast, booked cycling lunch, dinner as quoted

Places: Hoi An → Quang Ngai

Distance (km): 50

Terrain: Mixed rural paved roads; longer intercity stretch by support van

Travel hours: 4

Day 9Quang Ngai to Quy Nhon – Supported Coastal Cycling

Continue towards Quy Nhon with approximately 50 kilometres of selected riding on approved provincial and coastal segments. The guide will choose the day's start and finish points to avoid high-speed highway riding and confirm local roadworks before departure. Private support transport will cover the substantial remaining intercity distance, and the exact stops may shift according to traffic, weather and group performance. Enjoy a planned lunch or picnic where facilities are available and reach Quy Nhon with time to recover. A short beach walk or independent dinner can be taken after checking into the chosen hotel.

Overnight: Quy Nhon hotel – night 9 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast, booked riding-day lunch and drinking water, evening meal as quoted

Places: Quang Ngai → Quy Nhon

Distance (km): 50

Terrain: Selected coastal and rural paved segments; substantial support transfer

Travel hours: 4

Day 10Quy Nhon to Nha Trang – Cycling near Tuy Hoa and Vung Ro

Use the support vehicle to connect selected safe cycling sections towards Tuy Hoa, Vung Ro Bay and the southern coastline, with a planned combined riding distance of approximately 55 kilometres. Views may include fishing villages, estuaries and farmland, but weather and road restrictions determine which sections can be ridden. Break for a booked lunch and water stops; any beach swim is optional and subject to local safety advice. Complete the much longer journey to Nha Trang by private vehicle rather than implying the entire intercity corridor is cycled. Check into the hotel and enjoy a free evening.

Overnight: Nha Trang hotel – night 10 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast, planned roadside lunch and cycling water, dinner as quoted

Places: Quy Nhon → Nha Trang via Tuy Hoa and Vung Ro

Distance (km): 55

Terrain: Coastal paved riding segments; support transfer over longer distances

Travel hours: 5

Day 11Nha Trang to Mui Ne – Coastal Cycling around Phan Rang

Leave Nha Trang by vehicle, then complete a proposed total of approximately 45 kilometres cycling on suitable sections near the coastal countryside and Phan Rang, subject to traffic and weather assessments. Planned roadside stops may offer views of vineyards, salt fields or fishing settlements, with visits only where access and hosts are confirmed. After lunch and rest breaks, use the support vehicle for the longer transfer to Mui Ne rather than riding a busy highway. Check in to the selected Mui Ne hotel or beach resort for the first of two recovery nights. The guide will confirm the final ride distance on the route sheet.

Overnight: Mui Ne hotel or resort – night 11 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast, booked cycling lunch and route drinking water; dinner as quoted

Places: Nha Trang → Mui Ne via Phan Rang

Distance (km): 45

Terrain: Selected coastal and rural paved sections; main road travel by support van

Travel hours: 4

Day 12Mui Ne – Recovery Day and Optional Sand Dunes

Take a full leisure day at the selected Mui Ne resort or hotel to recover from the supported coast rides. Activities such as the Fairy Stream, an approved sand-dune excursion, a beach visit or a spa treatment are optional and require booking where appropriate. Sandboarding, swimming or off-road vehicle use depend on individual fitness, environmental rules and operator safety. The standard itinerary does not promise a further cycling stage today; those wishing to ride must arrange a separate short route with the guide. Spend a second night in Mui Ne before tomorrow's private road transfer to Ho Chi Minh City.

Overnight: Mui Ne hotel or resort – night 12 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast; optional excursion meals as quoted

Places: Mui Ne → Mui Ne

Terrain: Leisure day; no scheduled cycling

Day 13Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh City – Final Road Transfer

After breakfast, complete the final journey from Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh City in the booked private support vehicle with comfortable rest breaks; no cycling on busy high-speed approach roads is included. Check in to the city hotel. Depending on the arrival time, enjoy a gentle guided or independent visit to a local market or historic landmark, with admission included only when specifically confirmed. Gather with your group for an optional farewell meal and review airport pickup details for tomorrow. The ride programme concludes after seven supported cycling days; total kilometres remain a planning estimate until the final GPS route sheets are supplied.

Overnight: Ho Chi Minh City hotel – night 13 of 13

Meals: Hotel breakfast and transfer-day meals only as agreed

Places: Mui Ne → Ho Chi Minh City

Terrain: Private intercity support vehicle; no scheduled cycling

Day 14Depart Ho Chi Minh City – Private Airport Transfer

Allow adequate time for local traffic and international check-in, and book late checkout only if separately required. The private fourteen-day Vietnam coastal cycling tour ends after thirteen nights and approximately 335 kilometres of proposed, supported riding segments across seven cycling days. The completed daily distances, actual road sections and any revised activities will be recorded in the accepted pre-departure route plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a fourteen-day cycling tour from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City?

Yes, but the proposed programme is not a continuous bicycle ride over the full distance. It combines seven supported cycling days on selected roads, a Lan Ha Bay cruise, one domestic flight, private road transfers and leisure days.

How many nights and destinations are included?

The fourteen-day itinerary provides thirteen nights across Hanoi, a Lan Ha Bay cruise, Hue, Hoi An, Quang Ngai, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Mui Ne and Ho Chi Minh City. Hotels and cabin standards are specified in the final quote.

How far will we cycle?

The proposed seven days total about 335 kilometres: 35, 60, 40, 50, 50, 55 and 45 kilometres. These are planning estimates, not verified GPS measurements; final route sheets determine actual daily cycling distances and any necessary changes.

Do we ride all the way between Quang Ngai, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang and Mui Ne?

No. The trip uses selected quieter rural and coastal cycling segments with support-vehicle transfers between them. Some intercity distances are too long or traffic-heavy to represent as only 50 to 55 kilometres of full-route travel.

How difficult is the Hai Van Pass crossing?

Climbing Hai Van Pass is demanding and suitable only for riders comfortable with hill cycling. The local guide checks road, weather and fitness conditions; other travellers use the support vehicle and may rejoin on a safer section.

What cycling experience do guests need?

This is rated Moderate overall, with a challenging optional mountain-pass section. Riders should be comfortable with several hours of exercise and variable paved surfaces. Share your recent cycling distances, age, health limitations and preferred level before booking.

What type of bicycle is supplied?

The accepted quote will confirm fitted touring, hybrid or hardtail mountain bicycles, helmet availability, sizes and any requested personal-bike arrangements. A particular brand or an electric bike is not guaranteed without supplier confirmation.

Is there a support vehicle and luggage transfer?

The proposed guided cycling days include a pre-booked support vehicle for planned transfers, rider assistance and luggage movement between hotels. A dedicated mechanic, spare bike or instant rescue from every road section must be separately confirmed.

Is the overnight cruise part of the cycling mileage?

No. The cruise day is non-cycling. The proposed Orchid Trendy two-day programme has Ao Ech kayaking and Tra Bau anchorage on Day 1 and a morning Trung Trang Cave visit on Day 2, subject to weather and current sailing arrangements.

Can we reach the Hanoi-to-Hue flight on the day the cruise ends?

Only if a confirmed late flight leaves enough time for the cruise's disembarkation, highway transfer, airport check-in and sensible delay buffer. Where it does not work, the itinerary or duration needs revision before booking rather than promising an impossible connection.

Does the tour enter the Hue Imperial Citadel by bicycle?

No such access is promised. The Hue cycling loop uses permitted public roads, and the guide arranges on-foot entrance to protected heritage monuments subject to their current rules.

Are My Son Sanctuary and the Son My Memorial included?

Both are proposed cultural visits, with tickets and guide arrangements included only where the final accepted quotation explicitly lists them. My Son's temple paths are explored on foot and the Son My Memorial visit is conducted respectfully.

When is a good time to cycle the central coast?

March to May is often a favourable compromise for outdoor riding in central Vietnam, but heat, rain, storms and coastal winds are possible in any season. The guide checks local forecasts and road closures before each stage.

Are meals, drinking water and equipment included?

The planned base quote covers specified hotel or cruise meals, fitted cycling bikes, agreed helmets, drinking water and snacks on riding days and basic first aid. All other food, replacement parts and specialist services must be itemised before confirmation.

How can we book a private cycling trip or adapt the distances?

Send travel dates, guest count, heights or bike sizes, cycling experience, dietary needs, hotel preferences and any interest in an e-bike. Haivenu will confirm safe routes, GPS plans, accommodation, guides, support vehicles, supplier costs and cancellation rules before accepting a booking.
