About This Tour

15-day Vietnam family cultural tour: villages, bays and an island escape

Discover Vietnam together on a 15-day, 14-night tailor-made family journey from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. Explore Hanoi’s culture and food, meet local communities around Mai Chau, spend one night aboard a shared cruise in the Ha Long–Lan Ha Bay region, then slow down for five nights on Phu Quoc Island before visiting Saigon and the Mekong Delta.

Designed for families who enjoy cultural discovery without moving hotels every day, this itinerary mixes guided visits with genuine downtime. It includes some long private-road journeys, domestic flights, a boat overnight and an optional soft walk in Mai Chau. Haivenu can adjust visits and rest breaks to suit children’s ages and each traveller’s mobility.

What makes this family journey distinctive?

  • Hanoi: museums, heritage landmarks and family-friendly food discovery with a flexible pace.
  • Mai Chau: a rural overnight stay, local weaving traditions and an easy walking alternative for families.
  • Ha Long and Lan Ha Bays: one overnight shared-cruise experience among limestone islands, with a private family cabin arrangement confirmed in the quote.
  • Phu Quoc: five nights to enjoy the beach or pool, optional markets, local producers or family attractions without a packed sightseeing schedule.
  • Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta: thoughtfully paced heritage and river-life experiences before departing Vietnam.

Who is this tour suitable for?

Families and multigenerational travellers who prefer a mix of guided learning, coastal scenery and unstructured holiday time. Cave steps, hiking, kayaking and Cu Chi tunnel interiors are not mandatory: suitability depends on ages, physical ability, access and supplier rules. The journey is not a cycling tour.

Route and practical arrangements

Begin with a Hanoi airport pickup. Travel to Mai Chau and back, take a 2-day/1-night cruise in the Ha Long–Lan Ha region, then return to Hanoi and fly to Phu Quoc. Continue by domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City and finish with an airport transfer on Day 15. Air routes, cruise vessel, cabin category, ground transfers, room configuration and guide services will be finalised in the written quotation.

The itinerary uses a private land-tour format where specified; the overnight cruise is on a shared vessel unless an exclusive charter is arranged separately. Flights and supplier excursions are not represented as private services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a private tour or a group cruise?

The land itinerary is designed with private transfers and private guided visits where specified in your written quote. The overnight Ha Long–Lan Ha Bay cruise uses a shared vessel with bookable family cabin arrangements unless a private charter is separately quoted.

How many nights are spent on Phu Quoc?

There are five planned resort nights on Phu Quoc, from Day 7 through Day 11. Days 8–11 can be spent at the beach or pool, or customised with separately quoted outings.

Is this really a 15-day itinerary?

Yes. The itinerary has an individual plan for each of 15 days and 14 overnight stays: four in Hanoi, one in Mai Chau, one on the cruise, five in Phu Quoc and three in Ho Chi Minh City.

Is the Mai Chau walk suitable for children or older family members?

The countryside walk can be shortened, replaced or omitted. Cave steps, rural paths, weather and accessibility should be discussed before booking. This is not a cycling tour.

Will the overnight cruise visit Dark and Bright Cave or Trung Trang Cave?

The exact route depends on the vessel and sailing date. Some Peony-style cruises visit the Tra Bau area and Trung Trang Cave; other itineraries differ. Haivenu will provide the selected operator's current schedule before payment. No particular cave or kayaking stop is guaranteed.

Are family hotel rooms and connecting rooms guaranteed?

No specific property or connecting room is guaranteed before confirmation. Tell Haivenu the ages of children and whether you need two rooms, adjoining rooms, extra beds or a family suite. The quote will state the exact available arrangement and cost.

Are meals, flights and entrance tickets included?

The route plans two domestic flights, guided visits, accommodations and an overnight cruise; exact meal inclusions, ticket classes, baggage and attraction fees will be itemised in writing. Optional Phu Quoc activities are excluded unless added.

When is the best time for this family tour?

November to April is generally more favorable for Phu Quoc beach time, with December to March often especially suitable, but northern conditions differ and Ha Long–Lan Ha cruises can be affected by weather year-round. Ask Haivenu to advise on your specific travel dates.

Can children visit the Cu Chi Tunnels?

Families can learn about Cu Chi at an age-appropriate pace. Entering the narrow underground sections is optional and may be unsuitable for some children or travellers with mobility or respiratory limitations. Discuss alternatives with your guide.

Is the Mekong Delta tour always by speedboat?

No. River segments, boats and ground transfers depend on the confirmed local operator and route. Haivenu will specify transport modes, stops and age restrictions in the final quotation.

Do we need a visa for Vietnam?

Entry requirements vary by passport and nationality; visa exemption and e-visa options differ. Check the official Vietnam Immigration Department portal at evisa.gov.vn and confirm the requirements for each family member before departure.

What happens if rain or sea conditions disrupt the tour?

Operators and authorities may amend or cancel cruises or water activities because of unsafe conditions. Haivenu can discuss viable alternatives, while cancellation, amendment fees and refunds follow the specific supplier terms provided before payment.

How do we book a personalised version?

Send your planned dates, number and ages of travellers, preferred accommodation level, bed and room preferences, mobility needs and interests via the Haivenu inquiry form. You will receive a proposed package, price and booking terms in writing before committing.
