Explore the Perfume River setting and Thien Mu Pagoda when timing and conditions permit.
Meet makers of Thanh Tien paper flowers, Sinh woodblock prints and Thuy Xuan incense where local hosts are available.
Enjoy coastal mountain scenery around Lang Co and Hai Van Pass, with a safer road alternative in adverse weather.
Walk through Hoi An Ancient Town and learn about its historic trading communities and traditional architecture.
Stay two nights in Hue and one night in Hoi An, allowing a full four-day programme instead of a Day 3 departure.
Central Vietnam’s cultural story is not confined to monuments. On this 4-day, 3-night private journey from Hue to Hoi An, you encounter both imperial heritage and traditions sustained by working communities. Historic architecture reveals how the Nguyen court shaped Hue, while local makers offer a more personal perspective on the region’s culture today.
Hue’s paper flowers, folk woodblock paintings and incense are more than colourful souvenirs. Their designs and techniques connect with ceremonies, beliefs and knowledge passed between generations. Respectful visits give you an opportunity to observe craftsmanship, ask questions and appreciate the people behind these traditions. Any hands-on workshop depends on the artisan’s availability and prior agreement.
Travelling on to Hoi An introduces another chapter of Vietnamese cultural exchange through a historic trading town shaped by regional and international connections. This journey suits couples, families and small private groups who value local conversations, historical context and a flexible pace over a rushed checklist. Some heritage sites involve steps and uneven paving, so share mobility needs or children’s ages in advance. Haivenu can adapt the experience to your interests while keeping time for quieter moments and independent discovery.

A flexible outline of your private Vietnam journey.
Meet your pre-arranged driver or guide at Phu Bai Airport or an agreed Hue pickup point. Depending on arrival time, visit the Imperial Citadel, including the Noon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace and selected royal courtyards accessible that day. Allow time for the site's historic walking paths and steps. If your arrival schedule permits, continue to Thien Mu Pagoda along the Perfume River; a riverboat journey can be arranged only if confirmed in the quotation and safe to operate. Otherwise, enjoy a relaxed riverside evening. There is no guarantee that a late arrival will allow all sightseeing on Day 1.
Overnight: Hue hotel – night 1 of 2
Meals: Meals as itemised in the quotation
Places: Hue (agreed airport or hotel pickup) → Hue
Explore Hue's living craft culture with a local guide. Subject to host availability, visit Thanh Tien village to see how artisans make ceremonial paper flowers, and Sinh village to discover folk woodblock painting and its cultural meaning. Later, stop at Thuy Xuan incense-making households to learn how incense is prepared and dried. Short hands-on activities are possible only by prior agreement and may carry an additional fee. Allow time for lunch, breaks and respectful photography; avoid assuming every workshop is open on the same day. Return to Hue for a second night.
Overnight: Hue hotel – night 2 of 2
Meals: Breakfast; other meals if included in the quote
Places: Hue → Hue
Leave Hue in a private air-conditioned vehicle and travel south towards Hoi An. When conditions allow, drive via the scenic Hai Van Pass with a photo stop overlooking the coast and the Lang Co area. In rain, storms, fog or road restrictions, the driver may use the Hai Van Tunnel instead; mountain-view stops are not guaranteed. Arrive in Hoi An and explore selected parts of its UNESCO-listed Ancient Town on a guided walk, including historic lanes, merchant architecture or a cultural site as agreed. Take time to explore independently in the evening, and stay overnight in Hoi An rather than returning immediately to Da Nang.
Overnight: Hoi An hotel – night 1 of 1
Meals: Breakfast; lunch and dinner if itemised in the quote
Places: Hue → Hoi An
Enjoy a more relaxed final morning in Hoi An. With your guide, choose an additional heritage house, assembly hall, riverside market or traditional craft encounter according to opening hours and the group's preferences. A lantern-making or other artisan workshop can be arranged on request and may cost extra. Check out from your hotel and finish the tour in Hoi An. If departing by air, ask Haivenu to include a separately confirmed private transfer to Da Nang International Airport, scheduled around your flight and hotel check-out. The tour does not include an automatic onward flight.
Overnight: Tour ends in Hoi An after check-out or agreed transfer
Meals: Breakfast; other meals if included in the quote
